Small Group Studies

Our Spring 2010 small group studies are set to begin the week of Feb 1.  There are three studies offered this semester.  If you're interested in joining one of them, click on the underlined title to sign-up.

Daniel
Day/Time:  Mondays, 8 PM
Location:  Mary Katherine's townhouse
Leader:  Mary Katherine Dempsey

The study for women will be working through the book of Daniel, studying narratives from his life, and seeking to apply the Biblical truths and principles we find to our own lives.  The book of Daniel might seem an odd choice for a girls study but the truths contained within it are valuable and applicable to all.

Romans 1-8
Day/Time:  Mondays, 8 PM
Location:  3rd Floor, Squires
Leader:  Andrew Shank

In this study for guys, we will be studying passages from Romans 1-8, answering the question "What is a Christian?"  In addition to talking about basic truths like our need for a Savior, we'll talk about issues that real Christians struggle with: finding joy in prayer, reading the Bible, and loving others.

Misquoting Truth
Day/Time:  Thursdays, 4 PM
Location:  Squires (see room # below)

This co-ed study of the book, Misquoting Truth by Timothy Paul Jones, is for all students interested in wrestling through some of textual criticism made popular through Bart Ehrman's book, Misquoting Jesus.  As prevalent as Ehrman's beliefs are in a university setting like VT, this study will a benefit to all willing to explore traditional, conservative answers to Ehrman's accusations.
